Away ~ Nature Sounds to Sleep App Reviews

This app and the connected series are some of the most beautiful and immersive meditation/relaxation/sleep I have seen or used. Thank for putting out such high quality work!

Unlike Windy, Sunny and their others, this one allows you to choose an area of a single scene and the time of day. This makes for interesting combination and allows more control over what you hear, based on mood. Want running water? Hang out by the river. Want rushing water, go to the waterfall for more birdsong go to the tree. Great and thoughtful app.

Unfortunately, modern life involves a certain amount of unavoidable stress! Have you listened to or read the news? Had a visit from your mother-in-law? Well, you get the idea! Fortunately, as someone once said, whos name I cant quite remember ;-), "Theres an app for that!". And its name is "Away" which is also what it well do to your stress. Like its sister apps before it, Thunderspace, Windy and Sunny, it will transport you to a beautifully recorded soundscape of stereoscopic 3D sounds of nature which well both ease and wash "Away" all of lifes stresses so you can better meditate, relax, study, be more productive and fall asleep. Having been a happy owner and user of all of Franz Bruckhoffs previous apps, I literally downloaded "Away" within hours of its first appearance in the App Store. And although I liked it, thus this review, I did have a small issue with one of the behaviors in the app. Making use of the built-in ability to email directly the developer from within the app, I sent an email off to Franz describing the issue and how I thought it should work. After an exchange of several email and literally within a few days and the release of an update, a change had been made to the apps behavior that resolved the issue. With a beautifully crafted app and a developer, Franz, whos both responsive to and truly seeks out his end users comments and input, well - it just doesnt get any better than that! Ian

I love this developer’s apps. They provide nature sounds in the middle of the city. It is great to just relax or turn it on softly to drown out the noise outside and read or take a bath. Great sounds, crisp, clear, awesome

As with all of the Taptanium line of HD virtual audio environments, this is yet another superb invention with a versatility to combine effects, shift from day to night, move across a virtual landscape and it is simply amazing. Away combines seamlessly with all of the other Taptanium environments to blend effects of rain, water, wind, in the best audio creations at the iTunes Store. Nobody does it better and Away is the best so far.

I have a small pile of apps that I use to relax and among these, this one is pretty much the most enjoyable to use. The interface is clean & simple and the controls are innovative & interactive on a whole new level. Because the scenescape is explorable, it doesnt get old, in contrast to many apps that are "set it and forget it." "Away" allows me to engage in relaxation and step into that realm versus just pressing play on some music or soundscape and then just *trying* to get there. Sometimes I use this app while Im working to take the stress off deadlines or breathe life into cubicle confinement, but there really are endless uses for an app that effectively injects relaxation into lifes scenarios, and this app does this is a pleasurable, intuitive way.

Everything I have from this developer has a great feel to it. So glad there are people doing such great work!

The is not only an effective app but it is also a lot of fun. You can change the music, nature sounds, time of day.....lots of options. The music and sounds combine to create a wonderfully nurturing and relaxing experience!

It is sooooo good

Third time is supposed to be the charm, but in this case, its FOUR thats fulfilled the Complete Charm Quotient! Ive got all Franzs other amazing soundscape apps, and I love them. I love to mix within one scene or layer the different situations together — the Sunny fox is great with a forest Thunderspace setting, for instance. But the interface for Away is like a magic carpet/time machine/weather wizard in a beautiful intuitive landscape — the fact that your fingers wander a natures cape instead of sliders and radio buttons is a revelation because it makes me feel like Im using my body to channel my imagination into a shut-eyes reality. Incredibly charming and Im devoted after five minutes. Anyone who gives this app a bad review for not having enough choices obviously just doesnt get it or just lacks imagination and the capacity to invite childhood wishes into their grown-up lives. If youre a fan of magic in any sense, this app is for you. Thanks again x 4, Franz!!!! ❤️

I really do, I have all 4!

I love apps by Franz Bruckhoff, and each one seems to get better and better! All the sounds are seamlessly flowing together as if you are picking a spot to lay in a beautiful meadow with a perfect reading book tree! To me, it seems as though: (or maybe Im right) It is one track in which you can drag a selector circle thing to focus on different parts of the track by dragging it to a certain part in the picture. For example, if you wanted to emphasize the cricket noise, you would drag the circle to the grass or bushes. There are more sounds incorporated in the track that you can emphasize such as water, other creatures, and other things if you listen carefully. I wont spoil all the surprises, though! Well, except for these. You can also control the amount of music you can hear. I love how you can choose a time of day your scene is in, also! In my opinion, the graphics are amazing and it is incredible how you can choose what sticks out in the track by dragging a circle to wherever you want!! Not to mention the amazing 3D sound!!!!!! Its great to calm you down, study, block noise, ect. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Franz Bruckhoff apps, and I feel like all the apps are truly original and amazingly peiced together!! If there was an app created by Franz Bruckhoff that was, like, $25 I would still pay for it! Thats how much I love his apps!

Useless and overpriced. Very disappointing.

It may look like a simple scene, but this apps ability to create that perfect balance of serene sounds you need, is unmatched. Glide your finger around the screen to adjust what you hear. Find the mix of wind, water, wildlife, and gentle music you like, then sit back, and relax.

Having trouble getting to sleep? Other than listening to a political speech, this will put you to sleep faster and give you far better dreams.

I thought this would as generic as the rest of these types of apps. However, the sounds are so well integrated into the beautiful scene its just a delight. The level of how we would want to control all aspects of the sound is very well thought out. Worth the money.

Seamless looping is required for sleep music...this does not loop, there is a period of silence, then it fades back in. The silence wakes me up. There is also a distracting drum beat that shows up for a while, and then disappears...this beat wakes me up. The music is nice, but those two things make the app useless to me for the purpose I bought it for...SLEEP. Ambience sounds are nice for daytime, but I cant sleep to birds, crickets or water...I sleep to music only....and I use an 8 hour sleep timer because I live on a busy street. Only music drowns that kind of noise out, because the ambience sounds dont make sense to my brain in this noisy location...such sounds just dont exist in a busy city. Waste of money for me. Also, there appears to be additional images you can load at the bottom, when you click a box....but I cannot get any of those images to load...nor can I get the fan or lightning buttons to do anything. Please fix this. And no, this is NOT a paid review...the person who stated that 1-star reviews are paid for is either lying or generalizing about things he knows nothing about.

Where have I been that I am just now discovering this series of meditation apps?? The collection is perfect for meditation, of course, but as a life-long insomniac, I play this all night long.....and it aids in the resumption of sleep!! I also appreciate the combination of verbal scrip and music/sound effects. Many years ago, I was a clinical hypnotist, and this would have been a lovely addition to suggest to anyone wishing to learn to go quickly into a meditative state. So peaceful!
